Through this portrait of Natalie Portman, I wanted to show another side of this famous woman. Not according to the usual criteria, but rather through a very particular attitude. Capturing an almost frozen pose, with a direct gaze, I allowed myself to be pierced by this moment.
I chose soft, warm tones to allow the details of her clothing and the texture of her skin to express all the femininity that could emanate from them when, caught by her insistent and intense gaze, I found in her a very refined seriousness.
The portrait, from the front, becomes a gaze.

Captivated by the model's intense, incisive, even suspicious gaze, I wanted to give her the freedom to challenge our gaze. She confronts us with this very particular intensity, turning her face at an almost defensive angle as we see her.
My eye, drawn to this intensity, made me want to surround her with an attractive halo using the sfumato technique. Let us be carried away by this enigmatic portrait, let us revolve around her.
Fascinating, the gaze becomes emotion.

An exchange, an artistic moment... and the portrait is born from the fusion of colours, light, the violinist's particular position, the way he gives me his music with that look, knowing and mischievous.
Like a shared moment in which blue represents dynamism, wood represents softness, the position of the hands represents meticulousness, and the instrument represents the path leading from one to the other. This portrait is a slice of life.
The gaze as complicity and sharing.

In this work i wanted a more frontal style featuring several textures, treated though different. I found it very interesting to give life to wood - from grain to marquetry - to various textiles - from jumpers to curtaines - or to cruder materials such as leather or metal.
I created this composition like a cabinet of curiosities, teeming with various objects, while we know nothing about the central character of the painting. She seems to invite us to sit beside her and spend a moment with her in this incredible setting, listening to the story of her adventures.
Spend some time in a painting.
